I Don't Know a Thing
Really, What do we know about another human being other than what we have been told? Will we ever truly know that homeless man that walks the streets? How about the single parent in front of us with the screaming baby cutting coupons to afford her groceries? What do we know about these people? Will we ever see them again? Do we judge them subconsciously in our heads? Does it matter what the world thinks of us? Do they care? More importantly, do we?
Do you live life going through the motions, or do you live it to the fullest each day? What makes you different from everyone else? Who is everyone else anyway? Whose standards make us who we are? What are those unspoken rules that make others different from us? Or us different from them? Really which way is it?
"Dream as if you'll live forever,
live as if you'll die today"
What makes us have good days? What makes us have bad days? Is it really that bad? Or are these just excuses to make everything seemingly okay? Humankind truly is a selfish race. I am selfish, and so are you. When you think about it, our society is powered off of greed. I don't know what i'm getting at, but the world just disgusts me. Do you live your life wondering if you're good enough? Who sets that bar? Is it you, or your parents, or your peers. Really who is it that has so much power over you that when you're in a room with them you start to sweat. What makes someone better than another? Is it their money, their social status, the family they come from, their career? What got people into thinking that? We all live according to someone else. Where are the morals in society? When we have an excess of money why do we spend it on the name brand things? The big houses, the shiny cars, things that we don't need to make our life better. Will this BMW make my life better? Will it make me happier? Will it make my life easier? Will my kids like me better? Will my husband spend more time out of the office?
At the end of the day, nothing will change. As technology advances and manufactures continue to produce all these material things that will make your life bigger and better we will lose sight of the ones we love. Do you truly know your family? What goes on behind closed doors. Why will we suddenly understand everything when we're "older". Why can't the world be black and white? The shades of gray are just complications, worries, problems that everyone has, but no one wants to admit that its their fault. Didn't pay the rent because you lost your job, because you bought the fancy house, because everyone else was getting one, because the economy was booming and your old house was just to small for all the "stuff" all the "fluff". The things that matter.
Your loved one died and now you cry. You had endless amounts of time to visit them but you never had any "time" to begin with. Why would i drive to riverside when i could go to south coast plaza and indulge. After all, i work hard for my money. Well guess what, you can dry your tears with your hundred dollar bills, but that's not going to bring him back. You had your chance and you missed it. Money can't buy it all.
